The onset of Alzheimer’s disease occurs when, in neurons, amyloid beta peptides bind to prion proteins. Tested in mice, a polymer mixture inhibits this preliminary Alzheimer’s mechanism, serving prevention and also helping repair memory function. Human clinical trial are expected to start soon.

Neurodegenerative diseases are some of the leading causes of death. An arsenal of new research and technologies, including, biochemistry, stem cells, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and neuroprosthetics are expected to help combat neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s.
