A face-scanning artificial intelligence system, named DeepGestalt, uses facial expression to identify children with rare genetic disorders. The artificial intelligence system correctly distinguished, 64 percent of the time, between subtypes of genetic disorders, compared to the roughly 20 percent success rate of human clinicians.

The artificial intelligence system is expected to support clinicians accurately identifying genetic disorders faster and less invasively.
